I (Shorty) started out with a used model 4000
Sherline
lathe about 6 years ago. I never dreamed I would take to this hobby of miniature machining as I did. Since that time I have added one of Sherline's model 2000 Mill and many, many accessories. Here is a look at some of the machinery.

This is my current lathe, I purchased a used model 4000 then upgraded to the longer bed and added the cnc upgrade to this.
This is my
Sherline
model 2000 mill. I have the Z column upgrade to give it more travel as well as the z axis lock. The mill and the lathe are both controlled using
Turbocnc
software and
Zylotex
driver boards.
I built an auto toolchanger from
Joe Vicars plans
and added to the mill. I puchased a used model 5000 mill and used the headstock to build the changer on. This way I can swap it out when it is not used.
More Pics and video of Toolchanger.
Additional support Equipment. We have a 6 inch grinder, el-chepo table top drill press (saves me from running out to the building to use the big one), and in the back ground is the oxy/propane torch set up for brazing and glass working. Can you tell I am running out of space.

Having been inspired by Jim Knighton, I decided to try my own hand at making a Quick Change Gearbox for Threading on the lathe. This gearbox makes it possible to cut 31 different thread pitches from 10 tpi to 80 tpi. If you would like to see more pictures of this gearbox then
